TDM - Somewhere, beyond the sea~

THE UNKNOWN SEAS TDM

Hello and welcome to the Test Drive Meme for Unknown Seas! Welcome to the bottom of the whole ocean, kids. Use this as a space to freely test characters or character options in something close to the setting! Standard format applies, drop your character name and canon in the subject line

The facility is pretty simple, even if there isn't an exact map yet. There are a number of various windowless rooms and common areas in clusters connected by long glass corridors built in the bottom of the sea. If you look up you can see more tunnels above, but they're darkened completely. Here's some prompts! The kids love prompts, right?

1. Arise from the depths (of sleep)

You wake up in a very functional and simple bed in a very functional and simple room. It's definitely not, however, where you went to sleep. Did you even go to sleep? That's pretty alarming. Also potentially alarming is the window in the wall above the writing desk you've been given - that's uh. That's water out there, buddy. You're underwater. Well-lit underwater, but underwater. You should probably look around or maybe outside - who knows, maybe other people are around here? Or maybe you want to try to demand to speak to a manager.

2. Killing time

Between bursts of violent murder, there aren't exactly a bunch of scheduled activities in this place. So there's a need to fill the time somehow... what are you doing to kill time? I know most everyone interested is a murdergame vet of some kind, so feel free to add in whatever standard murdergame rooms you like to fill the space! There's all kinds of things here. Maybe there's a theater, or an art room, or... an aquarium, for ultimate levels of nonsense?

3. Motive time!

The Professor has announced a new motive for murder! Maybe you've been given an envelope with your deepest darkest secret, maybe you're being offered a great deal of money... maybe he's giving the kitchen staff a week off! There's all kinds of things he could do.

4. Material goods???

There's a vending machine in the hallway, with no... buttons for selection or anything, which is weird. All you can do is drop the coins you sometimes get into the coin slot and hope! It might drop all kinds of things - it's regains, you know the drill.

5. Down where it's wetter, down where someone's deader...

There's been a murder! Get out there and investigate, or like... don't. I'm not your dad. Maybe you want to shield some poor teenager from a grisly murder? Or maybe the investigation is over and you want to chat about the grisly murder over some relaxing tea from the kitchen. You do you!

6. Other

Or maybe there's something not on here that you want to do! This TDM is for you, live your dreams!

[...well, he's not too stealthy about getting close, but at the same time, he's... he knows Rhea, alright. That's probably Sinners in the Hands of an Angry Goddess she's writing...

...maybe... he'll just not comment and try to dissuade her from dumping it on the other test subjects.

He'll head across from her, set down his own stack of books, and pull up a chair, then.]

Have you found anything particularly interesting? I'll admit, there are some things I wish to take back home when we've found a proper way out of this situation, but aside from that, none of it seems useful in that regard.

[She tenses slightly when she feels a presence but realizing who it is makes her relax. There is definitely some Burning Sinners on that paper. Thankfully for the rest of the test subjects the paper itself will likely be burned with the rest of the trash. Writing it out was cathartic.

She sets down her pencil for the moment, sighing.]

Some things of interest, yes. Some of these authors are quite poetic and some of the information is quite intriguing. I fear that this may be more for the staff's enjoyment than anything else.

[There's a small pause.] I suggest not poking into the fictional stories too much.

I will never complain about having reading material. If it keeps us from losing our minds, that is helpful enough.

[He opens one of the books, then pauses.]

What is wrong with the fiction here, exactly?

Yes. At least we are blessed with more patience than most.

[Should she tell him. Well, someone's not here so.]

Most seem to be fine but I do believe there is, ah, some more scandalous romantic tales. I do know how you can be.

...ah, I see.

[He brings a hand to his chin and ponders...]

Well, this is not an educational institution for impressionable young minds, so I suppose I can leave it be.

[...he was slightly more chill about it a while back, but then Flayn came to the monastery and he proceeded to go absolutely apeshit on the library......]

This is quite the different situation, yes.

[At least there was no reason for him to go quite that rough on the poor books this time. Probably.]

Though, it is a pity that we have to be here under these circumstances... the facility is quite beautiful in it's own way.

...indeed. If there happened to some way to visit a place like this under better circumstances, I would do it in a heartbeat.

[Flayn would love to visit some kind of undersea facility where she could just... look out the window... watch The Fish.... ah, he can’t help but feel a little wistful.]

You were always more fond of the sea than I; though I can understand the appeal now.

[She can just imagine it. She gives a small chuckle.]

The monastery's pond cannot compete with an ocean.

Well, Flayn has always been the one most interested in the actual wildlife, though I will admit that I’m certainly enjoying getting to see things that seem like they live even deeper than your average fishing rod would reach.

You will have many tales to tell her when we return. She will be quite jealous of that aspect.

I am sure I will, yes. I may have to liberate some of the illustrated books on sea life to make sure she can get some good out of this, at any rate.

[it's, perhaps, a bit cavalier about theft, but also, have you considered that the professor fucking sucks?]

I might have to help you on that front. That is the least we can do.

[Aside from, y'know, not dying but hey. Theft is okay if it's for the Goddess and for Flayn.]

Indeed, it is. I would not want to tell her about much else, admittedly.

I have been attempting to encourage cooperation among those of us trapped here, at least. I do not trust that things will go smoothly, though.

Of course. We must act together.

[Yet...]

Fear and anger will make that difficult. Even the most skilled shepherd will have troubles calming their flock when they know a wolf is hiding.

...I know. It will not be easy, and I cannot say that I am naive enough to assume that nothing will happen even if we put our best efforts forward. But... if we can mitigate the damage, it will be worth it.

There are indeed things that can sway even a pure soul to doing things that are regrettable. Even if every person puts the utmost effort in we are still trapped. However, that only means we must try even harder.

[She's been trying to keep her tone calm, if serious. She can't hide the growl of anger creeping into her voice when she speaks her next words.]

The Professor will pay for this, as will his accomplices. That much I know for certain.

Of course. Everything else aside, we cannot allow something like this to happen again, and the Professor does not seem the sort to stop after one attempt.

We have no proof that this was the first attempt, either.

We do not, no. I am tempted to see if I am able to get a straight answer on that, but... I would rather not speak to our captors if I can avoid it.

You said that Professor Byleth chose to lead the Black Eagles in your version of things, correct? I wonder if things will be different for you in that instance...

That was their choice, yes. At the time I thought nothing of it; all three leaders seemed eager to welcome them. With hindsight, I dearly hope that they were not persuaded by her blasphemous schemes.
