Glad to have you aboard! Gone are the musty old dark tones and anxieties of that creepy underwater facility from the first round - welcome to the lap of luxury on your very own Atlantic Cruise. And we mean your very own, too - there's nobody else aboard! Well, except for the Captain, who broke the news to you when you got up about what you have to do here.

The facilities are all top of the line, even if for some reason you just can't seem to get to the other floors of the ship just yet - there's a gym, a pool, a buffet- wait, scratch that, looks like you're on one of our liners lucky enough to have a tie-in deal with Jimmy Buffett himself, which means you get access to all you can eat at the on-board Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville's Jimmy Buffet!

So make the most of your time! Maybe even get a spooky souvenir from somewhere in the B̴͖̈́e̷̟̊̀ṛ̴̩̑̉m̴̺̪̈̈́u̵̧͛̇d̶̗̱̀̔a̸̧̙͗͝ ̶͖̖͑̚T̴̤͝r̷̩͘i̶̟͎͗̈́a̴͍͗̐n̵̥̆͝g̵̮̳͘l̷͔͑ḛ̸̹͒͗ while you're here.

Hey, you! You're finally awake! Welcome to your modest accommodations aboard... some kind of cruise ship? Look, there aren't exactly a lot of great accommodations offered aboard cruise ships, you get what you get. There's a bed, there's a little desk, there's a vase of flowers... and a beautiful view of the ocean outside your window!

Hope this isn't, like, wildly different and strange compared to where you just were! Oh, also the whole boat is all decked out for New Year's.

2. Room for all kinds of activities!

If you head out to the decks, or just walk around the ship, there's all kinds of things to see here while you wait for the bodies to start dropping! Feel free to make up whatever facilities you like, gyms or shuffleboard courts or even libraries - the Margaritaville buffet is canon, though. That's your canon food option. Hope you like shrimp!

3. Son of a son of a motive

Another Tuesday, another sealed envelope full of fun! Is this finally something worth killing for to get off this boat? Or is it just something stupid and/or embarrassing? Better ask around!

4. A good friend returns

On one of the decks, next to some regular beverage and food vending machines, is... an unmarked one? It only takes these weird coins that sometimes show up in your rooms at night. Sometimes it gives you things from back home! Sometimes it gives you? Little creepy wooden puppets??

5. Wasting away again in... well, a murder

Oh no! Someone is dead! Did you kill them? Are you trying to get the word out? Did you find the body and really need to calm down? Live your dreams, kill who you wanna kill offscreen!

6. Anything else!

There's all kinds of things you might be doing on a boat like this! Don't feel constrained by the options here - live your murderboat dreams!

Interesting that one of the very obvious nonhumans would be the first to come upon the first corpse; doubly so that it's one who's never had experience with death to begin with. Perhaps a bit unfortunate for her, anyway.]

Not necessarily like this, no. Some are lucky enough to pass away in their sleep, surrounded by friends and family, and some do not leave any corpses to begin with. It all depends on who is dying and how, really.

[Jasper isn't exactly a doctor, so he'll leave the corpse touching to someone else. The cause of death seems pretty straightforward, but who knows if it's a little twistier.

I would imagine so. It is difficult to replicate the true experience of encountering death for the first time even in the realm of memory.

This one isn't from my realms. The goings-on and mishaps of mortals are very little of my concern.

[Jasper turns back to look at her in... well, perhaps surprise is a little bit of an overstatement, but it’s not long before he laughs sharply.]

Quite a wise position to take in a situation like this. It is quite worthless to get attached to anyone here, so I would imagine you will have an easier time than some.

Some of the others seem to believe it wiser to bond. To discourage those who would kill one another here.

I think those who will kill in a situation like this would not be so easily deterred by a hug and gentle words, or by sharing things such as games and drink. Any bonding done serves only to harm those who participate in it. Does it not?

Oh, most certainly. Such naive idealism is, in the best case scenario, only going to result in tears when they come across the corpse of their dead "friend."

[tut tut tut. there's footprints. he's not even a professional detective and he can tell this is amateur hour.]

Of course, the far more likely scenario is that they will be distracted enough by the pretty words of someone with even half a brain that they do not notice the knife slipping between their ribs.

Is that how you would do it?

[It's a straightforward question, one that doesn't seem loaded with suspicion of any sort. One merely asked through curiosity that seemed almost idle in nature.]

Befriend someone, lie to them. Kill if they fail to notice your treachery. Is that how you would approach a system like this?

Now, now. It seems against both our interests to confirm or deny what strategy we would use if we intended to actually go along with this game.

As an objective strategy analysis, though, I believe that approach has its flaws. Unless you keep your friendship private, it would create a link between you and your potential victim that presumably would draw suspicion.

It's only against your interests if you truly intend to play. Am I wrong? Though I suppose I can appreciate your admission of that much, and the lack of pretense surrounding all of this.

[She seems to shrug a little at that, though. Goes back to awkwardly patting the dead person. Tries very hard to not put her hands directly on any open injuries because wow, gross.]

As it stands, I intend to kill no one. But I'll be sure to keep your analysis in mind.

I could say that I have no intention of going along with this farce either, but I have not given anyone much reason to trust me, nor has anyone given me much reason to trust them.

Granted, my motive for refusal is pure spite, which is a rather strong one indeed.

Something that has a great power to sustain, to be sure. I've seen many mortals be driven by it, and many more be kept alive through such means.

May it be just as much on your side as it was on theirs.

I certainly believe it shall. It is a more stable and enduring quality than anything else, so I am unsurprised by how many have benefited from it.
