R2 TDM - boys in the band order boat memes

UNKNOWN SEAS R2
TEST DRIVE MEME
Glad to have you aboard! Gone are the musty old dark tones and anxieties of that creepy underwater facility from the first round - welcome to the lap of luxury on your very own Atlantic Cruise. And we mean your very own, too - there's nobody else aboard! Well, except for the Captain, who broke the news to you when you got up about what you have to do here.
The facilities are all top of the line, even if for some reason you just can't seem to get to the other floors of the ship just yet - there's a gym, a pool, a buffet- wait, scratch that, looks like you're on one of our liners lucky enough to have a tie-in deal with Jimmy Buffett himself, which means you get access to all you can eat at the on-board Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville's Jimmy Buffet!
So make the most of your time! Maybe even get a spooky souvenir from somewhere in the B̴͖̈́e̷̟̊̀ṛ̴̩̑̉m̴̺̪̈̈́u̵̧͛̇d̶̗̱̀̔a̸̧̙͗͝ ̶͖̖͑̚T̴̤͝r̷̩͘i̶̟͎͗̈́a̴͍͗̐n̵̥̆͝g̵̮̳͘l̷͔͑ḛ̸̹͒͗ while you're here.
1. Arise from the depths (of sleep)
Hey, you! You're finally awake! Welcome to your modest accommodations aboard... some kind of cruise ship? Look, there aren't exactly a lot of great accommodations offered aboard cruise ships, you get what you get. There's a bed, there's a little desk, there's a vase of flowers... and a beautiful view of the ocean outside your window!
Hope this isn't, like, wildly different and strange compared to where you just were! Oh, also the whole boat is all decked out for New Year's.
2. Room for all kinds of activities!
If you head out to the decks, or just walk around the ship, there's all kinds of things to see here while you wait for the bodies to start dropping! Feel free to make up whatever facilities you like, gyms or shuffleboard courts or even libraries - the Margaritaville buffet is canon, though. That's your canon food option. Hope you like shrimp!
3. Son of a son of a motive
Another Tuesday, another sealed envelope full of fun! Is this finally something worth killing for to get off this boat? Or is it just something stupid and/or embarrassing? Better ask around!
4. A good friend returns
On one of the decks, next to some regular beverage and food vending machines, is... an unmarked one? It only takes these weird coins that sometimes show up in your rooms at night. Sometimes it gives you things from back home! Sometimes it gives you? Little creepy wooden puppets??
5. Wasting away again in... well, a murder
Oh no! Someone is dead! Did you kill them? Are you trying to get the word out? Did you find the body and really need to calm down? Live your dreams, kill who you wanna kill offscreen!
6. Anything else!
There's all kinds of things you might be doing on a boat like this! Don't feel constrained by the options here - live your murderboat dreams!
Freyja | Fire Emblem Heroes
Age: ??? | Occupation: Queen of Dokkalfheimr
Likes: Freyr, kindness, dark places
Dislikes: Ridicule, those that harm children
Trivia: She has a twin brother; between them, Freyja is the younger.
[II. I refuse to make an LMFAO joke.]
[It's likely clear by now to everyone – including those who haven't looked at the profiles any – that Freyja...isn't exactly from around here; her reactions to things are all a little off, a little strange, and that doesn't seem to be abating any the longer she's on the ship.
But you know what, that's all right today; today is the day that Freyja finally seems to have gotten used to the overly complicated process of walking on board a boat at sea (no, really, why is that so hard) and as such she's properly out on deck, exploring and trying to figure out what to do with so many of the things here. Because the deck has a pool, and the deck has a bunch of markings on it, and the deck also has a rack with some weighted pieces and sticks. And she could do the reasonable thing and try to figure out how to hit the weighted things into the boundaries within the lines – that would make sense, as that's decidedly more obviously some sort of game – but that seems both pointless and less entertaining to her at the moment.
As such, she can be found with an oddly intense expression on her face, launching those weights directly into the pool like she's trying to see how far she can send them before they splash in. She's surprisingly strong for her size – she's all of five foot nothing and those pucks are getting some awesome airtime – and she seems to be paying no mind to anyone wondering...well, what the weird horned lady in the fancy as fuck dress is doing until she's directly addressed.
(As it turns out, people do not commonly have dreams about shuffleboard.)]
[IV. Good friends dispensing new friends.]
[So. Freyja's got an idea of what the steel things on the decks do, and one of them seems to take those odd coins that she's been finding next to her bed. (She may have found this out by way of, like, trying to mash them into everything on this godforsaken boat that even begins to resemble a slot, but shhhh.) It's unmarked, and that in and of itself is strange just because of how gaudy everything here is; she puts one of her coins in, and is looking rather pleased with herself when the machine actually makes noise! Clearly, this attempt is not going to be in vain!
...Granted, she isn't exactly expecting what falls out of it.
It's nothing horrible, or sordid, or grossly inappropriate. (It's not even anyone's severed hand, which would likely count as all three.) Rather, it's a stuffed toy – a fuzzy brown otter, in fact, holding a colorful starfish. She barely even looks at it before unceremoniously dropping it to the ground, looking annoyed at the machine for not giving her something more useful (that isn't hers, after all); she exhales in a huff, as though realizing nothing is forthcoming without more coins, and she turns away to go do something about that – either get more coins or go sulk in her room for the initial attempt being pointless, it's kind of hard to say how productive she'll be about it – when her foot taps lightly against the otter where its lying on its back on the ground, looking up at her.
She looks down. Stares at it for a bit.
...Bends down to pick it up.
She turns it over in her hands for a while before gathering it into her arms a bit more properly, almost-but-not-quite hugging it in a way that implies she hasn't hugged a stuffed animal in her goddamn life; she looks like she isn't sure what she should be getting out of the experience. Just... Rest assured, this is the most bewildered interaction with a toy you've ever seen. She doesn't get it either.]
[V. Somewhere only we know.]
[She should have known this would happen eventually.
She should have known and she should have been ready but the fact of the matter that she didn't, and she isn't, and the first thing that strikes her is how red the blood is.
Freyja approaches the body without really deciding to, and one of her hands is pressed against her chest and the other is reaching out as she kneels down next to the body in question, and she hesitates a moment, fingers curling in toward her palm briefly before she rests her hand on the person lying on the floor, the hem of her dress wicking up blood as she does so. Her eyes are wide, her head canting lightly to the side as she tries to make sense of what she's seeing; the body is still warm, and if it weren't for the utter mess that used to be the back of this person's head and the blood pooling out onto the floor (why is there so much of it? there's never this much in what others' dreams have shown her) she'd think that they were sleeping, enveloped in some sort of dream that she can't see but must surely be all-encompassing, given how they don't...seem to be awakening...
It's then that there's a sound, and she can hear someone coming in behind her, and her hands are covered in blood and so is her dress and her expression is very, very difficult to read when she finally speaks.]
Is this what it always looks like? When mortals die – is this what it...?
[Her tone is almost surprisingly straightforward and unfeelingly blunt; almost as though she's curious rather than upset.]
IV;
In a place like this, it was an imperative to gain a better understanding of the people who surrounded him, for reasons good or bad. So that was why he didn't walk away when he would were it some...other civilian (could 'Goddesses' be called civilians, though?) ]
You seem a little unsure how to feel about the object you just obtained. But, is it possible you've taken a liking to it? Or have you just never handled a stuffed animal before?
no subject
This is something the mortals use for comfort, is it not? The álfar have no need for such things.
[She says, still not setting the otter down.]
Perhaps the younger ones among us will find use for such a thing, should it turn out to be suitable for such a purpose.
no subject
...And right now, said 'goddess' had been holding a stuffed animal of all things. Not that he cared to think less of someone for doing that. There was Pesci, after all, who had been an assassin, and yet he was seen doing things that were not assassin-like. Didn't make him less of a threat were he to get serious. Underestimation is a fool's mistake. ]
The álfar? I've never heard of the word.
[ ... ]
But you're correct in that people find comfort in holding those sort of things. Though, it's not to just the young, one of the children among us will likely appreciate it all the same. In the meanwhile, I'm sure you can hang onto it. Or...will you linger in here, waiting for someone to come and take it from you?
no subject
[It's not a huge inconvenience, but she wasn't particularly in the mood to just be jingling around the ship.]
The toy can come along for now. Will you accompany me, mortal? Or do you have other business to attend to?
[It's a little formally stated, but she doesn't seem bothered either way; come with her or don't, your choice.]
no subject
[ He wouldn't exactly count a 'stuffed toy' as nonsensical.
That said, Risotto wasn't looking to become a master of puppets here even if the machine seemed to have liked giving him quite a few of those a little while ago. They were currently sitting in his room, ready to unnerve some unfortunate fellow who had the rare honor of seeing such things.
Either way, he had no interest in ending their conversation just there, and so he decided he'll wait for her to go the way she will; once the goddess starts walking, he will follow. ]
...I'll join you for now. Thanks to our unique situation, I have far more downtime than to know what to do with at times. I'm sure you understand. Even if I can't claim to know what the schedule of a Goddess would be like, on account of never having met one before now.
no subject
She'll set off easily enough; she sort of hates the motion of the ship but it's something she's become adjusted to, and as such she'll set about wandering back towards the group's quarters, continuing to hold the otter close as she does so.]
You said you were unfamiliar with the álfar - we are beings of dreams, far removed from the waking world and its concept of reality. I'm...unsurprised that you have never met one with a status so high above your own; we do try not to interfere. But sometimes those that are of the world cry out; we hear you, and we tend to you, even if you remain unaware.
Such things have their time. Simply not always in a way that those of this world might find preferable or convenient.
[So like. Goddesses gonna goddess, just not necessarily in a way you might like.]

It's what makes Plumeria seek her lady out--ah, the deck. A lovely place, really, and it seems like she's...quite...busy...
...Plumeria is honestly not sure what to make of this, honestly--is she cross? It would certainly make sense if she was, with everything considered, but--]
Lady Freyja? You have my apologies for disturbing you, but...is everything alright?
[...You're kind of tossing those with an intensity Triandra would give praise for, does Plumeria need to kick someone's ass--]
no subject
She doesn't look embarrassed about the activity, though she does pause after the latest goes sailing into the pool; she does look over, however, none of the intensity quite leaving her face.]
All is well, Plumeria. Not ideal, but things aren't going poorly.
[No one's dead yet, somehow?]
This vessel is...strange. Designed to celebrate sloth and excess in every way. Truly something created by mortals; I cannot imagine something like this coming to pass even in Ljósálfheimr.
no subject
But oh, Plumeria finds a smile creeping onto her lips as her lady talks about the vessel; she's certainly not wrong, at any rate.]
Oh, but of course. Even those in Ljósálfheimr have more standards than these vulgar mortals; really, I'm not surprised that they would create something so horribly indulgent. It's every bit as sickening as they are in general...
[Plumeria, as always, is not holding back. Fuck these mortals, purely figuratively.]
I can't believe they expect us to stand for this.
no subject
[She doesn't know how Freyr stands any of them, honestly, much less...
Anyway.]
You would bring him torment, I imagine. The Captain.
no subject
...But there's something of a gleam in Plumeria's eyes as Freyja says that much.]
Oh, but of course. His deplorable actions cannot go unpunished. [Her tone definitely implies that she's at least been thinking of doing exactly that. Not that Plumeria's been idle, but...] Do you have orders for me, Lady Freyja? I will gladly carry them out, if so.
[She is here to make the Captain's life a living Hel (heh) if Freyja asks. And...let's be real, even if she doesn't, but if it means approval--]
no subject
Only if you've retained your full abilities to do so.
[She says it knowing full well that Plumeria likely hasn't, simply because no one has; it isn't outright chastising, though.]
I can't see you being pleased with yourself, if you cannot offer him all you have in return for his...generosity in bringing us here.
["Generosity."]

v
It is. I take it you weren't expecting it to be quite like this?
[The words are straightforward; blunt, but not entirely cold. He moves forward then, sweeping his cape out of the way so he doesn't end up getting it as bloody as her dress is going to be if she continues crouching here, and begins his examination of the corpse. That certainly is a nasty head wound, and would require quite some strength to pull off...]
You found them just like this?
no subject
[She doesn't sound offended by the question; if anything, she seems a bit softer than she usually does. Quieter. Less sharp around the edges.]
I often see death in the mind's eye of mortals. It's frequent, but never so vivid. Some details are exaggerated. Others left altogether. Often all they produce is someone lying as though asleep. A clean way of re-imagining it.
no subject
[He does glance over at that, listening to Freyja speak before sitting back a bit as he considers her words.]
"A clean way of re-imagining it," yes, that does make sense. Most people fear death, even without having seen it firsthand. I would imagine quite a few mortals have given you an interesting perception of death.
[This one is particularly gross, though, so like, it's fair to be kinda wigged out, Freyja.]
no subject
She glances down at the corpse, her hand still resting on them somewhere along their upper back.]
The álfar can and do suffer death, but there's a vast difference between what we know as death and the way mortals experience such things. The deaths mortals fear are often morbid, drawn-out affairs - instances where they have the chance to dwell, the opportunity to reflect on what is about to happen to them. A quick death is seen as a mercy, is it not? Something swift and merciful. Forgiving.
no subject
Precisely. Deaths from illness are a common fear, as are deaths that involve bleeding out. A quick and painless death is what most would call a mercy, inasmuch as death can be considered a mercy.
[i mean sometimes it's totally a mercy for everyone else, but that's not the point—]
If you don't mind my asking, what is death like for the álfar?
no subject
Death is... [She's quiet for a moment.] ...We can be killed by others, but most would not dare try to kill us, and we do not try to kill one another - our numbers are too few.
Death, for us, is a cessation. A state of no longer existing in the realm we inhabit. A...fading, I suppose, of one's life force. Once that is gone, even in dreams, it requires a great power to revive. Not quite an impossibility, but almost.

Interesting that one of the very obvious nonhumans would be the first to come upon the first corpse; doubly so that it's one who's never had experience with death to begin with. Perhaps a bit unfortunate for her, anyway.]
Not necessarily like this, no. Some are lucky enough to pass away in their sleep, surrounded by friends and family, and some do not leave any corpses to begin with. It all depends on who is dying and how, really.
[He steps a bit closer, taking care not to step in the pools of blood and...]
...you will want to wash your dress in cold water, by the by.
no subject
...I see. I shall take your words into consideration, regarding the dress.
[She seems a bit blunted still; she still isn't really moving to get up any.]
The dreams that I've seen that involve such things are... It always looks different from this. Some details greatly exaggerated, some greatly understated. Seeing it myself is...
[...]
It's interesting, I suppose.
no subject
Instead, he'll look around the rest of the room for any other evidence as he continues speaking.]
I would imagine so. It is difficult to replicate the true experience of encountering death for the first time even in the realm of memory.
[hm hm hm...]
At least you are not taking it too poorly.
no subject
[freyja, no]
This one isn't from my realms. The goings-on and mishaps of mortals are very little of my concern.
no subject
Quite a wise position to take in a situation like this. It is quite worthless to get attached to anyone here, so I would imagine you will have an easier time than some.
no subject
[It's said thoughtfully, as though she's trying to contemplate the logistics of it even now.]
I think those who will kill in a situation like this would not be so easily deterred by a hug and gentle words, or by sharing things such as games and drink. Any bonding done serves only to harm those who participate in it. Does it not?
