TEST DRIVE MEME

Welcome... to Rapture! Well, New Rapture. It's a lot like the old Rapture - art deco as hell, lots of glass looking out at the ocean floor, creeping sense of derelict dread - but at least it isn't a research facility! In particular, you're starting off in a pretty retail-heavy area of the abandoned underwater city. And good news: you can basically grab whatever you want, because there's no other living souls in this city!

Not that this is an exact reflection of areas in the game, but there's a clothing store, a pool, a library, a... bank? Whatever you want, basically.

1. Atlas shrugged as he woke up from a real big nap

You wake up in a beautiful four-poster bed, in a room that... well, has seen better days. It's been cleaned recently, sure, but the paintings have tears in them and the carpet is worn down. The lights work, though!

... As do the lights out the porthole. You're uh. Super underwater. Surprise?

2. Participate in capitalism! Bioshock, baby!

For an abandoned city, there's a surprising amount of stuff to do here! Head to Fontaine Fashions for clothes, Fontaine Fountains Waterpark, the Fontaine Mayoral Library, or the Dining Hall (Sponsored by Fontaine Futuristics!)! In case any of you forgot who brought you here.

3. Kill, would you kindly?

Another Tuesday, another sealed envelope full of fun! Is this finally something worth killing for to get back to the surface? Or is it just something stupid and/or embarrassing? Better ask around!

4. Welcome to the circus of [REDACTED]!!!

Down one of the alleys, next to some regular beverage and food vending machines, is... an unmarked one? It only takes these weird coins that sometimes show up in your rooms at night. Sometimes it gives you things from back home! Sometimes it gives you? Little creepy wooden puppets??

5. Look, Mister Bubbles! An angel!

Oh no! Someone is dead! Did you kill them? Are you trying to get the word out? Did you find the body and really need to calm down? Live your dreams, kill who you wanna kill offscreen!

Glad to have you aboard! Gone are the musty old dark tones and anxieties of that creepy underwater facility from the first round - welcome to the lap of luxury on your very own Atlantic Cruise. And we mean your very own, too - there's nobody else aboard! Well, except for the Captain, who broke the news to you when you got up about what you have to do here.

The facilities are all top of the line, even if for some reason you just can't seem to get to the other floors of the ship just yet - there's a gym, a pool, a buffet- wait, scratch that, looks like you're on one of our liners lucky enough to have a tie-in deal with Jimmy Buffett himself, which means you get access to all you can eat at the on-board Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville's Jimmy Buffet!

So make the most of your time! Maybe even get a spooky souvenir from somewhere in the B̴͖̈́e̷̟̊̀ṛ̴̩̑̉m̴̺̪̈̈́u̵̧͛̇d̶̗̱̀̔a̸̧̙͗͝ ̶͖̖͑̚T̴̤͝r̷̩͘i̶̟͎͗̈́a̴͍͗̐n̵̥̆͝g̵̮̳͘l̷͔͑ḛ̸̹͒͗ while you're here.

1. Arise from the depths (of sleep)

Hey, you! You're finally awake! Welcome to your modest accommodations aboard... some kind of cruise ship? Look, there aren't exactly a lot of great accommodations offered aboard cruise ships, you get what you get. There's a bed, there's a little desk, there's a vase of flowers... and a beautiful view of the ocean outside your window!

Hope this isn't, like, wildly different and strange compared to where you just were! Oh, also the whole boat is all decked out for New Year's.

2. Room for all kinds of activities!

If you head out to the decks, or just walk around the ship, there's all kinds of things to see here while you wait for the bodies to start dropping! Feel free to make up whatever facilities you like, gyms or shuffleboard courts or even libraries - the Margaritaville buffet is canon, though. That's your canon food option. Hope you like shrimp!

3. Son of a son of a motive

Hey there, everyone! With Case 5 all wrapped up, it's time to talk about the end of your fun undersea adventure! Well, more details will follow next week about the particulars, but we've rolled the last case and we're getting ready to set sail towards your final confrontation with The Professor. How exciting!

This does mean that if you've made it to survivorpool, you now know for sure - please don't say anything publicly about it until after the final case! And if you for any reason don't want to be in survivorpool or feel that you've made it to the end of the game in error, please get in contact with the mods privately asap!

So, here's what the next two weeks are going to look like, in vague terms:

Tuesday, May 19th - Your final player motive!
Friday-Saturday, May 22nd-23rd - The final player case!
Sunday, May 24th - The final week is posted! We'll talk about how this goes when we get there.
Friday, May 29th - Final investigation!
Saturday, May 30th - Final trial!

And from that point, well... it's up to all of you, isn't it?

This is a more formal interest check post for Unknown Seas, a murdergame in the style of Trustfell or Airlocked created in the interest of having something to do while things are Like This in the world. Just with lower AC and also, you know, underwater. The general tone is going to be more serious than the latter of the two mentioned, but like. If there's been a murdergame without any shitposts, I don't know her.
