Glad to have you aboard! Gone are the musty old dark tones and anxieties of that creepy underwater facility from the first round - welcome to the lap of luxury on your very own Atlantic Cruise. And we mean your very own, too - there's nobody else aboard! Well, except for the Captain, who broke the news to you when you got up about what you have to do here.

The facilities are all top of the line, even if for some reason you just can't seem to get to the other floors of the ship just yet - there's a gym, a pool, a buffet- wait, scratch that, looks like you're on one of our liners lucky enough to have a tie-in deal with Jimmy Buffett himself, which means you get access to all you can eat at the on-board Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville's Jimmy Buffet!

1. Arise from the depths (of sleep)

Hey, you! You're finally awake! Welcome to your modest accommodations aboard... some kind of cruise ship? Look, there aren't exactly a lot of great accommodations offered aboard cruise ships, you get what you get. There's a bed, there's a little desk, there's a vase of flowers... and a beautiful view of the ocean outside your window!

Hope this isn't, like, wildly different and strange compared to where you just were! Oh, also the whole boat is all decked out for New Year's.

2. Room for all kinds of activities!

If you head out to the decks, or just walk around the ship, there's all kinds of things to see here while you wait for the bodies to start dropping! Feel free to make up whatever facilities you like, gyms or shuffleboard courts or even libraries - the Margaritaville buffet is canon, though. That's your canon food option. Hope you like shrimp!

3. Son of a son of a motive

Another Tuesday, another sealed envelope full of fun! Is this finally something worth killing for to get off this boat? Or is it just something stupid and/or embarrassing? Better ask around!

4. A good friend returns

On one of the decks, next to some regular beverage and food vending machines, is... an unmarked one? It only takes these weird coins that sometimes show up in your rooms at night. Sometimes it gives you things from back home! Sometimes it gives you? Little creepy wooden puppets??

5. Wasting away again in... well, a murder

Oh no! Someone is dead! Did you kill them? Are you trying to get the word out? Did you find the body and really need to calm down? Live your dreams, kill who you wanna kill offscreen!

6. Anything else!

There's all kinds of things you might be doing on a boat like this! Don't feel constrained by the options here - live your murderboat dreams!

There are four wounds. They are...reasonably deep. I would posit that the perpetrator was not familiar with killing in this manner.

I have always found them to be intellectually stimulating. On the Enterprise, I have a holodeck program that will generate new Holmes-style mysteries to be solved.

[ Maybe he had allowed some of his annoyance at the situation to cloud his judgment, of which he's made swiftly aware of when she seemed to ask that question in a relatively thoughtful manner. There's a bit of disappointment towards himself at that; though he simply decided that he wouldn't do so from this point on.

Just that he needed to remind himself to not closed to other possibilities based on such things. ]

I had considered that this setup was indicative of someone who was merely doing all of this to satisfy their desire to see others suffer, for one reason or another. There are those who would go to the trouble to bother with that sort of thing.

But, when you point it out like that, I do have to wonder if there's something else to it. Beyond a grudge or a liking to mindless depravity. However, I do happen to consider those who arrange for the sake of a ritual killing to be comparable to that 'mindless depravity' I mentioned.

Even if they so happen to be going for it to appease some kind of being.

a. love won't hurt anymore

[ If Morgan is worried about anything going on here, she sure makes it really hard to tell. Given how she gives everyone a wide berth, she clearly understands the rules of engagement, but it doesn't exactly make her the easiest to connect with. It's probably easier for her that way – the last thing she wants to do is get attached to any of these people.

But it doesn't make this ship any less fascinating. It's easy to get gist of how it all works, but there's some things on the boat that elude her, like the giant shuffleboard field on the deck by the pool. With a cue in hand, she's kneeling by the edge of the playing field, picking up one of the colored pucks and looks it over. ]

I don't get it.

b. it's an open smile on a friendly shore

[ Somehow, Morgan hadn't really taken a look at the items she'd pulled from the vending machine until she got to the duty free store, perusing the perfumes and cosmetics that lined the shelves. She wasn't sure why she even carried it around, to be completely honest. A lot of the others seemed to not think most of it was worth it, so she was inclined to agree on that point.

She moves off to the side, poking through the Atlantic Cruse tote she'd swiped from the novelty item store. An egg... a sword with a black blade... a hideous wooden marionette –

Morgan's eyes widen as something catches her eye, and she fishes it out of the bag. To whoever sees it, it looks like a sculpture meant for a desk, a sort of sculpture with what appears to be an angel or something carved in the middle.

She stands there quietly for a few moments, her jaw clenched and her gaze intense, as she suddenly throws the statue at the nearest wall, shattering it and a few shelving units full of perfume on it. That's... that'll probably get fixed at some point, right? ]

[Sounds a little like Chaldea's combat simulator, but far more advanced, if it's capable of generating full mystery scenarios like that.]

[And yes, definitely no need to discuss how real or not Moriarty might be, and who he did or didn't become a weird pseudo-father-figure to. That would be ridiculous.]

[It's easy to forget they are on a ship at all for most people. It's large enough that when inside the bowls of the ship you can pretend to be in a building. As long as you can ignore the subtle sway of the 'ground' between your feet.

For the first week, it seems Hubert is not having a good go of doing that. It's only when everyone is inside for some event or another that he can found on the deck... looking a bit green and half hanging off the railing.

Oops.]

[ There's been a few motives so far- most of them ridiculous. Wealth, changing the past, all sorts of pointless things. Hubert doesn't even open his right away- instead, he takes the chance of people yelling and bickering over it to observe, trying to peek at others' envelopes. What weaknesses might set someone on the path of murder? He's... curious.]

[ The body has been found, and they are sorely lacking in doctors. So it seems today Hubert is the one doing the body check. He crouches over the corpse, with a slight 'hm' before reaching into his pocket to draw out a second pair of gloves- these black leather instead of his normal white dress gloves. He quickly switches them out before setting to work]

Well then, this shouldn't be too difficult- for once it seems our culprit actually knew what they were doing. Look how clean the slice across the throat is- even if they were already unconscious only someone with steady hands could manage this. Not a single tear or jagged edge. Quite impressive. Under normal circumstances this would be a problem but... well, very few of us have the training or the personality to manage it.

In all seriousness, Flayn has arrived at the scene of the crime as she stubbornly tends to do - if not to try and see if the victim can be saved, then to at least put literal years of combat medic experience to work.

Still, the fact that Hubert comes in every time as well is always pretty uncomfortable, even if his expertise has saved their lives more than once.]

Very astute. Almost certainly, though there are poisons that could slow the heart enough to cause the same effect. It is the pressure that causes the spray.

Anyway, at her mentioning the idea of the Captain suffering, he'll contain himself from allowing a certain kind of smile to adorn his face. It's to be expected others would be just as irritable about all of this to that point, but still having and hearing confirmation of that sat well with him. ]

I'll say you're not wrong in either of those things. The Captain will learn to regret what he's done...it's just a pity that we will need to wait for that time to arrive.

When considering the likelihood this occurred late in the night, two possibilities reveal themselves:

One, is that the insulation in the walls for our individual rooms is far more heavier than whatever has been assumed. Second, is that our bodies have been...tampered with in a way that makes it difficult for us to rise from our slumber on a night such as this.

[ The vases look like they've been shattered on top of being knocked over. Like someone threw them ala Link to get the rubies, but not really. The chairs that remain standing look like they've been moved around from someone maybe bumping into them, and one of the chairs was lying on the floor.

Unsurprisingly, Risotto managed to find defensive wounds on the victim's hands and arms in the form of bruises. No cuts though. ]

It looks like our victim tried to fight back, as futile as that was.
